Abstract: | Magnesium alloy castings are increasingly used in automotive, aerospace and electronics industries. These castings are mainly
produced via high-pressure die-casting (HPDC). During this casting process, molten alloy solidifies within a rigid mold, which
resists the alloy’s volumetric contraction. As a result, thermal and mechanical stresses develop in the casting and potentially
lead to the nucleation of hot tears. |
