Abstract: | The effects of sintering temperature above 1000°C and of cooling rate on the microstructual development of pure and Zn-substituted spinel lithium ferrites are discussed. The strong dependence of microstructural features on cooling rate can be explained on the basis of the precipitation of α-Fe2O3 or the formation of a solid solution of ferrite phase with Fe3O4 occurring during sintering above 1000°C. These two phenomena are studied by detailed characterization analyses: SEM, XRD, magnetization, and ac electrical resistivity measurements. |
