Overview of the Supersolidous Liquid Phase Singtering of Powder Metallurgy High Speed Steel

Raising the sinterability and controlling the microstructure are two main concerns of the high speed steel produced via powder metallurgy rout(PM HSS).Several critical parameters that influence the supersoli- dous liquid phase sintering(SLPS)of PM HSS are analyzed.The sinterability of the HSS is analyzed in terms of the content of the alloying elements,sintering window,carbon content and the limit of C(T_E)point.The feature of the mi- crostrueture can be optimized by changing the chemical composition,sintering temperature,carbon content and the sin- tering atmosphere.Further studies centered on decreasing the sintering temperature,designing new composition with high sinterability,obtaining ideal microstructure and high mechanical property.
