| Abstract: | This Paper deals with a method for calculating the coordinates of an unknown point from the coordinates of three known ones and a simple adjustment procedure for estimating the accuracy of the new coordinates. Eirst,three approximate values of the new coordinates are obtained by intersections from the three known points, producing in thia way a triangle of error. Let the vertexes of the error triangle be N_(12) N_(13), N_(23) and three known points D_1, D_2, D_3 respectively, calculate both the distances from N_(12) to D_3, N_(13) to D_2 and N_(23) to D_1 and the differences in length of the corresponding sides. Then, calculate the coordinates of point N by means of N_(12), N_(13) and N_(23) by using the square of the differences reciprocals. The accuracy can be estimated by calculating the differences between the values obtained by surveying and those obtained from the coordinates of the point N. |
