Abstract:The high degree of substitution of cationic chitosan was prepared with dry method, which NaOH and 2, 3-epoxy propyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (GTA)was used as a catalyst and cationic agent respectively. The effect of cationic agent preparation, NaOH dosage, cationic reagent dosage, reactive time and temperature on the cationic chitosaffs yield and degree of substitution was also stud- ied. The result showed that when chitosan was 0. 5 g, the optimal reaction conditions were 1.41g GTA, 0. 005 g NaOH, reaction temperature was 80℃, and reactive time was 3h. Under these conditions, the reaction yield of the product was 80.99% and the degree of substitution was 1. 25. The strengthen effect of cationic chitosan was further confirmed. And the result showed that the tearing index and break--assistant index was increased by 60% and 33.3% respectively than that without cationic chitosan when the dosage of cationic chitosan was 0.80 %.
