Abstract:Ni containing NaY zeolites were prepared by ion exchange, impregnation and isomorphous substitution methods. The effects of temperature, time and H 2S concentration on sulfidation of these zeolites ex situ were investigated, and their readiness for sulfidation was compared. Molybdenum oxide was incorporated to various Ni containing Y zeolites by solid state dispersion method. The sulfided Ni, Mo containing zeolite catalysts were characterized by means of XRD, IR and chemical analysis. In the presence of Mo the dispersity of the nickel sulfide species on the zeolites is increased. The thiophene hydrodesulfurization activity of the pre sulfided and non sulfided Ni, Mo containing zeolites was tested at ambient pressure. Presulfidation of the catalysts is favorable for the hydrodesulfurization reaction. The existence of acid sites on the zeolite catalysts promotes the primary hydrodesulfurization reaction and the secondary hydrocarbon conversion reactions. A synergy between Ni and Mo surface species on the zeolites has been observed.
