STUDY ON THE RELATIONSHIP OF BIODEGRADATION WITH THE STRUCTURE AND COMPOSITION OF LUBRICANTS

Lubricants are important petro chemical products and have been vastly used in a wide line of industry and civil sectors However,environmental pollution problems occurred because of improper discharging of lubricants In many countries,laws and regulations have been established to confine the use of the lubricants with low biodegradation in the areas sensitive to environment Therefore,it is very important to investigate the biodegradability of lubricants The evaluation method of lubricant biodegradability was established with reference to the European Economic Community Standard CEC L 33 A 93 The biodegradability of some lubricant base oils,including synthetic ester,natural vegetable oils,alkylbenzenes,white oils and polyalphaolefin oils et al ,was investigated Furthermore,the relationship worked out by this study of biodegradability with the structure and composition of lubricants is very important for China to develop "green lubricant"(lubricant with high biodegradability)products
