Abstract: | Grey System Theory is used to study the relationship between the change of compositions of the aged asphalt and the change of its service performance, such as softening point, penetration, and viscosity. The results show that the increase of the asphaltene content and the collapse of the colloidal stability are the main reasons why the service performances of the aged paving asphalt deteriorate. In this paper, the mathematical method is first introduced to the study on the relationship between the change of compositions of the aged paving asphalt and the change of its service performance. The result from Grey System Theory is in accordance with that from the experiential analysis. |
