Based on Flapper Fashion to Analyze Women’s Gender Role

Flapper is a symbol of the 1920s in the United States,marking the first generation of young open-minded of women.This paper discusses the fashion image of the flapper from the angle of sociology,analyzes and compares the femininity of the Gibson girl and the flapper.From the characteristics of flapper fashion,it leads to the analysis of her gender role.The research believes that the flapper used fashion strategy to shape her own image recognized in the world.The results provide a cultural reference for studying of films and literary works in those years and for the fashion of young women's subculture groups in the era.
