An intelligent inverter for a high-power LCD backlight

Abstract— To resolve some of the problems encountered in developing a high-power inverter for an LCD backlight with multiple cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs), we developed an intelligent dc-ac inverter unit with the following special functions: (1) stabilization of the power consumption within several minutes of power-on, (2) dispersion of the inrush current at power-on, and (3) low switching noise on the power-source line.
