Abstract: | The multiple‐effect principle can be used to reduce thermal energy requirements in thermal processes. According to this principle the energy is used several times over, according to the number of effects. Another possibility consists in increasing the pressure of the heat emitted by the process in the form of vapours to such a level so as to reuse it in the process. Jet pumps or mechanical recompressors, which are frequently operated in the rough vacuum range, are used for this purpose. This principle is explained in examples of thermal separation technology. |
