Abstract: | Isothermal grain growth in Ca0.16Zr0.84O1.84, a cubic solid solution of the fluorite type, was studied between 1600° and 2000°C. The grain size increased as the 0.4 power of time. The growth rate was found to be slower than in metals. The activation energy for grain-boundary migration was about 80 kcal per mole. The influence of sintering atmosphere on grain growth is shown. |
