The Relation Between Surface Orientation of Polymers and Liquid Crystal Pretilt Angle

Liquid crystal molecules on a rubbed polymer orientation layer are oriented at a polar angle tilted away from the surface,this pretilt angle is an important parameter in the design of LCDs.This paper introduces the rubbing process of polymer orientation layer and the measurement methods to determine the inclination of the polymer in orientation layer,and describes the relation between inclination direction of polymer and pretilt angle of LC layer.
