Application of the Wigner Distibution(WD)in the Condition Monitoring of Reciprocating Machinery

The Wigner Distribution(WD)of a signal can be intereted as a distribution of the signal energy in time and frequency .The time-frequency distribution is used to analyze the local frequency characteristic of a variety of signals The WD is demonstrated to accurate track change in vibration level with time,and to be suitable for the anlaysis of nonstatlonary signal by means of using simulations The vibration signal of the reciprocating machinery has a timevarying signature A newmethod,based on the WD time-frequency analysis model,is more sensitive to mechanical condtion than those based on traditional spectrum analysis Better results will be obtained in the condtionmonitoring of reciprocating machinery,if the Wigner Distribtuion os employed.
