Abstract: | By using principles, established earlier, for particle motion in rotor spinning, it is possible to develop a mathematical model to describe the movement of actual fibres on the slide wall of the rotor. Three stages — attachment, sliding and collection — may be identified. By analysing the forces under which the fibre microcomponents move at each stage, it can be shown that their motion, like that of particles, occurs by centrifugal action in the direction of the internal generatrix of the rotor-cone, from its smaller to its larger diameter, to the collecting groove. Further details of the mechanism by which fibres move are also presented. |
