Abstract: | The scope of this paper is to continue our earlier study of the peroxide curing of elastomers derived from butadiene. Experimental evidence indicates that abstraction of allylic hydrogen and addition to the double bonds can act as a mechanism for cross‐linking. The addition reaction may give rise to a polymerization reaction between adjacent double bonds, thus generating a heterogeneous network, with negative effects on the physical properties of the vulcanizates.
