Abstract: | The pattern of lipid classes in plant tissue cultures is similar to that in non-photosynthetic plants and plant organs, mono-galactosyl diglycerides, digalactosyl diglycerides, sulfoquinovosyl diglycerides and phosphatidyl glycerol being very low or absent. In contrast, photosynthetic plants and plant organs contain these classes of compounds in substantial proportions. The lipids in plant tissue cultures as well as in roots of higher plants and root-like structures of lower plants are rich in steryl glycosides and esterified steryl glycosides. |
