Measurements of wind loads on full-scale film plastic clad greenhouses

Full-scale measurements of the surface pressures on film plastic clad greenhouses have been made under natural wind conditions. The structures, which are of curved-arch construction, are representative of commercial greenhouses in the United Kingdom and include single- and multi-span buildings.The experimental procedure is described and detailed results are presented together with an outline of the data-analysis technique which takes into account short-term fluctuations in wind direction to give pressure coefficients consistent with use in the British Standards Code of Practice procedure.A simplification of the detailed results is presented in the Appendix in a form convenient for use in design.
