Dimensioning and Selection of High Voltage Insulators Used in Polluted Conditions

The differences between IEC/TS 60815-1 and -2:2008 and IEC/TR 60815:1986 are briefly introduced.The methods of dimensioning and selection of high-voltage insulators used in polluted conditions specified in IEC/TS 60815-1 are also explained based on the artificial and natural pollution test results from Pollution Test Station and Pollution Laboratory in Xi'an Electro-ceramic Research Institute.The new IEC/TS 60815 provides more exact methods and more options than that in IEC / TR 60815.The approach 1(based on past experience) and approach 2(measurement and test) in IEC/TS 60815-1 are introduced.The results show that there is no difference for the two approaches.The application process of simplified statistical method is introduced in detail to approach 2.
