Abstract: | Spectral response measurements on ceramic TiO2 photoanodes prepared in reducing atmospheres over a range of pO2 values from 10?4 to 10?12 atm. are reported. The results are interpreted in terms of the various defect states of reduced TiO2. In addition, a sub-bandgap absorption at 2.2eV is attributed to suboxides of titanium produced at the surface during reduction and subsequent d-state transitions under illumination. |
