Mobile Ad hoc routing technology based wireless LAN

The coverage area of wireless gateway is limited due to fading and interference, so the deployment of gateways is expensive. To reduce the number of gateways needed while still maintaining the same coverage, a method is presented to integrate the Ad hoc routing protocol into the network protocols of wireless LAN, so that mobile nodes that are not within direct transmission range of a gateway can still obtain Internet connectivity indirectly. The address configuration and routing issues of such wireless LAN are discussed in detail. The result of simulation validates this method.
