主位结构在英汉翻译中的应用

Application of Thematic Structure in E-C Translation

This paper attempts to apply the concept of theme to the study of English-Chinese translation shifts.It is argued that the subject in the initial position in a Chinese clause should be identified as subject theme or topic theme,the former being comparable to subjects in English and the latter quite particular to topic-prominent languages such as Chinese.Then the transformation of theme in E-C translation is discussed.
