Abstract:Charger is one of the main facilities in Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station. As power electronic equipments which are composed of rectifying devices and DC-DC converters, EV chargers will pollute the power grids when connected between grid and EVs. It is necessary to analyze the harmonic size and trends in order to eliminate and suppress harmonic pollution. PSCAD software is used in modeling of uncontrolled rectifier charger, 12-pulse rectifier charger and PWM rectifier charger in this paper and they are compared according to harmonic currents caused by EV chargers. Modeling of multiple chargers going line simultaneously or not is provided. The corresponding harmonics are measured and analyzed and disciplines of harmonics are summarized as well. The conclusion provides a reference in the selection of chargers for charging station. The proposed method can be applied to analyze power network harmonics produced by large-scale centralized charging stations adopting traditional charging mode.
