“一带一路”时代英语作为通用语发展前景刍探

全球化进程使英语由外语(EFL)变成通用语(ELF),实施“一带一路”倡议急需培养沿线国家小语种人才,这引发了英语作为通用语在“一带一路”时代是否具有发展前景的思考。对此通过阐述“一带一路”倡议和沿线国家英语通用语现象,梳理近年来与之相关的语言规划研究,探讨英语作为通用语在我国语言教学中的发展前景,得出英语作为通用语将推动英语语言测试及教学内容变革、促进对外汉语教学中汉语教学资源及汉文化传播渠道开发之结论。

The Prospect of English as a Lingua Franca underthe Belt and RoadInitiative

The globalization has made English as a lingua franca(ELF)rather than merely a foreign language(EFL),while the implementation ofthe Belt and Road Initiativeplays a strong emphasis on the need to cultivate minor languages talents,provoking the question about the prospect of ELF underthe Belt and Road Initiative.This paper first introducesthe Belt and Road Initiativeand ELF inthe Belt and Roadcountries,which is followed by the presentation of researches on language planning in China.It further probes into the prospect of ELF in English teaching and teaching Chinese as a foreign language in China.ELF will call for the reform in English language tests and English teaching,and will promote the development of Chinese teaching resources and communication channels of Chinese culture in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
