| Abstract: | The background of smart growth notion in America is quite differ- ent from China counterpart. When applied to Chinese cities, we should consider the peculiar background of industrialization and urbanization in China. This paper sum- marizes the general policy and successful cases of smart growth in America, brings forward some considerations on how to apply it to the Chinese megalopolises. |
