Teaching Research on Rotating Magnetic Field of the 3-Phase AC Machines

Abstract:In the course of Electrical Machinery, the rotating magnetic field is an important concept in AC machines theory. Good comprehension of it is helpful for students in learning the succeeding knowledge. However, the magnetic field is abstract, thus making this concep difficult to understand. So the research training is designed in this part of teaching. By appling the finite element electromagnetic field calculation software, students calculate the field of AC windings and analyse the characteristics of rotating magnetic field, pulsate field and multi-pole field, then summarize the rule of the rotating magnetic field. This research training is helpful for students to understand the rotating magnetic field theory.
