Abstract:Zein and poly-L-lactide(PLA) were dissolved in 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propanol(HFIP) to fabricate zein/PLA composite ultrafine fibrous membranes by electrospinning.The morphology of the composite ultrafine fibrous membranes prepared by using different mass ratios of zein and PLA was investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM).The structure and mechanical properties were characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectrum(FT-IR),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and KES-G1 multi-purpose tensile tester.The results show the electrospun spinnability of zein is improved by PLA.The average diameter of composite ultrafine fibers is increased from 434 nm to 539 nm and the crystallinity of composite ultrafine fibrous membranes increases with the addition of PLA content.Furthermore,The mechanical properties are improved effectively,failure strength is increased from 17.1 MPa to 27.1 MPa and failure elongation is also increased from 34.6% to 46.2%.
