Abstract:A series well-defined multiblock copolymers of poly(butyl methylacrylate)-b-poly(dimethylsiloxane)-b-poly(butyl methylacrylate) and poly(styrene)-b-poly(butylmethylacrylate)-b-poly(dimethylsiloxane)-b-poly(butylmethlyacrylate)-b-poly(styrene) were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP),using poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS) with C-Br terminated as macroinitiators,cuprous chloride(CuCl) as catalyst and 2,2′-dipyridine(bpy) as ligand.Fourier transform infrared spectrum(FT-IR),1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum(1H-NMR)and gel permeation in chromatography(GPC) were used to analyze characterization of the multiblock copolymers.The result showes that they have well-defined molecular structure with low polydispersity(PDI=1.47~1.18).Atomic force microscope(AFM) analysis indicates that multiblock copolymers form ordered nanostructure with the size 60 nm~100 nm on the film surfaces.thermogravimetry(TG) analysis shows that the multiblock copolymers containing PDMS block have well thermal stability.All results also demonstrate that the technique of ATRP is an effective tool of the molecular design and has a potential power in exploitation of functional materials.
