Abstract:In this paper,poly(5-vinyl-2-norbornene)(PVNB) was successfully synthesized via addition polymerization by using palladium(Ⅱ)-based catalyst system,and polymers were characterized by infrared spectrum(IR) and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum(1H-NMR).The grafting polymerization of tert-Butyl acrylate(tBA),N-Isopropyl acrylamide(NIPA) and β-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA) were used to modify the PVNB using benzoyl peroxide(BPO) as initiator.The IR,1H-NMR and gel permeation in chromatography(GPC) method analyses demonstrate that grafted PVNB copolymers are obtained.The amount of relative grafting rate of different monomers had been calculated according to the IR analysis.It is demonstrated that the grafting of tBA is higher than that of NIPA and HEMA.And the solubility and thermal properties of resulting polymers were also investigated.
