Abstract:The static strength, dynamic characteristic and residual life of helicopter composite rotor blades shocked by a bullet must be studied in the rotor blade damage tolerance design. By choosing a blade segment adjacent to the root of a certain helicopter rotor blade, CATIA was used to establish the 3D model of the blade segment, and then its finite element model was worked out through ANSYS software. The static strength of the rotor blade segment structure with different position and direction penetration damage was analyzed. By the APDL ( ANSYS Parameter Design Langnag)program of the software, the stress and strain nephogram of the blade structure, and the strength ratios of each component were got under coeffect of centrifugal force, flapping moment and shimmy moment without considering the gravity of the blade segment itself. It is shown that the strength ratios of the blade beam and skin are all greater than 1 in each damage case, which means that the beam and the skin are safe with penetration damage. But the front spar, the rear spar and the wing box will fail after they are shocked by penetration damage, which would affect the static strength of the rotor blade.
