Abstract:Hot-pressed Si_3N_4 was brazed using Ag_(57)Cu_(38)Ti_5 brazing metal from 1103K to1253 K for 5 min in vacuum.The results show that there is the highest brazingstrength of 490 MPa,brazed at 1153K for 5min;brazing strength depends on theinterface reaction between brazing metal and ceramics.The highest brazing strengthcomes from the fact that a joining layer of TiN with a suitable thickness has beenformed between Si_3N_4 ceramics and the brazing metal.From our experimental results,three rules about the design of an active brazing metal are suggested.
