Designing microprocessorbased systems

The advent of microprocessors has meant that the use of electronic devices has permeated virtually all fields of work; e.g. industry, offices, hospitals, and educational institutions. It is, therefore, important to have some appreciation of how microprocessorbased systems are designed. In this paper, the range of issues to be considered in designing a microprocessor-based system is discussed. First, the criteria for selecting a microprocessor are discussed, and second, the hardware and software aspects of designing systems with microprocessors are examined.
