| Abstract: | Stahlglas‐structure – design check and load test. The following article deals with the design checks at the “ultimate limit state” of a Stahlglas structure, using a free‐carrying glass staircase as exhibited at the ‘glasstec2004’ as an example. In an earlier paper published in this journal, the construction details of the most important elements, including an explanation of the fundamentals of the safety concept of the Stahlglas construction method, was presented. In this paper, the design checks which are explicitly required for this structure are described, together with the testing of individual structural components and final test loading. |
