Aspects and Examples of Hot-Strip-Mill Modernization

The continually increasing demands placed on product quality and lower-cost production is the driving force behind equipment and operational improvements in hot rolling.A careful investigation of existing mill equipment,bottlenecks,operating practices and the "hidden potential" of existing facilities is the basis for the implementation of optimized modernization steps to allow producers to meet the changing market demands.Three project examples carried out by VOEST-ALPINE Industrieanlagenbau(VAI) are outlined in this paper which illustrate various hot-strip-mill-modernization approaches and the results.
