| Abstract: | Meptazinol,a powerful analgesic,was produced from 1,3-cyclohexanedione and N-methylcaprolactam via etherification,condensation,oxidative dehydrogenation,ethylation and reduction.Under optimum conditions the title compound was obtained in an overall yield of 39.2%. |
