Abstract: | Gerald P. Koocher is nationally recognized for his public service activities in the areas of children's legal rights, services to families when a child member has a life-threatening illness, and the education and protection of consumers of mental health services. He has served on the Massachusetts Senate's Special Committee to Investigate Seclusion, Restraint, and Deaths in State Supported Facilities and the National Childhood Cancer Advisory Committee of the American Cancer Association. Other recognitions include the Nicholas Hobbs Award for Distinguished Contributions to Children's Services. Our profession is indebted to this energetic and generous psychologist for his tireless efforts to advocate for consumers of psychological services, especially those who are too young or too vulnerable to effectively protect themselves.
