VAI has been a major player in the supply of plate-mill equipment for the rapidly expanding Asian steel market-particularly in China where VAI has won more plate mill contracts than any other contractor.These contracts range from relatively small automation and mechanical packages,up to new,greenfield site facilities.This paper highlights the main plate-mill technologies offered by VAI,with reference to the new 4.3 m plate-mill stand for the Anshan Iron and Steel Company(ANGANG),the new 5.0 m wide plate-mill project for the Zhangjiagang Iron and Steel Company(Shagang),and in addition,with a passing reference to the Nanjing plate-steckel mill,all in China.
