Physics Codes and Methods for CANDU Reactor

This paper presents an overview of the physics codes and methods that are in current use at AECL for physics design and analysis of CANDU reactors.The 3 levels of calculations lattice cell,"Supercell" and finite core calculations are discussed,with references to the computer codes used in each step.The theoretical formation and representation of the physical processes at each level of the analysis and the solution methods used are also explained.The sample results of code validation demonstrate the good accuracy and a high level of confidence of the physics codes and methods.
