Study on Application of CI-4 15W-40 Diesel Engine Oil on Urban Light Trucks

The universal application of novel diesel engine technologies such as EGR and delayed fuel injection require engine oils with higher properties. In China, truck owners become more demanding on vehicle efficiency, and they need better-performing engine oils to ensure the efficient operation of trucks. In this paper, the performance requirements of API CI-4 diesel engine oil specification bench were expounded and the application of CI-4 15 W-40 diesel engine oil on urban light trucks was studied. The results indicate that CI-4 15 W-40 diesel engine oil has excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance, anti-wear, soot dispersion properties, and can inhibit the engine wear due to soot, allowing it applicable to urban light trucks under severe conditions. Moreover, it is replaced upon the service of more than 30,000 km, thereby ensuring the vehicles to operate more efficiently with lower maintenance costs.
