Effects of Power System in Urban Traction Transportation on Harmonics of Public Electricity Grid

The effects of harmonic caused by electric locomotive in urban transportation are investigated in this paper.According to main connections and parameters of the practical traction power system in urban transportation,it established a complete model including traction motor and public power system.In order to verify the simulation model,the measurement on-site is also performed and the results of measurement can well support the simulation model.Depending on the model,a principle and characteristics of harmonic injection can be obtained at different operating condition.Under the severe condition of single power source,the harmonic is still lower than stated in the national standard.However,at the moment of start of traction motor,the total harmonics can even reach 17%.The research can provide a support to understand the effects of traction power supply on public electricity grid.
