| Abstract: | Osteoarthritis(OA)is a degenerative joint disease.The detailed pathogenesis for OA is still unclear.However,more and more evidence indicated that it could be related to innate immunity especially the complement system.The degraded cartilage matrix can activate the complement system to form the membrane attack complex(MAC)which can lead chondrocytes to death and form OA finally.Therefore,development of complement inhibitors may be a new treatment approach to slow down the development of OA.The progress and trend of complement modulators in the treatment of OA based on the mechanism of complement activation are reviewed in this paper in order to provide a new strategy for OA treatment. |
