| Abstract: | This paper gives a brief introduction to the concept of thematic progression and makes a constructive analysis of the functions of thematic structure in teaching of reading.The functions are summed up as follows:1)to help the reader grasp the author's train of thought and understand the whole structural framework of a passage;2)to aid the students to get a rough idea about the common methods of thematic progression used in different genre. |
