| Abstract: | Numerous applications of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) in the management of diseases of the esophagus for structural, functional, benign, and malignant conditions have been reported. Indications and techniques for the use of VATS in the assessment and treatment of esophageal disease are discussed in this article. The need for careful evaluation of the safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness of these techniques is emphasized. |
