Abstract: | The investigation of the kinetics of electrochemical reactions at high current densities (20?300 A cm?2) and high streaming velocities of the electrolyte, is difficult. Large ohmic drops occur which make the exact measurement of potential impossible. A method is reported for multiple electrodes in which the kinetic parameters are deduced, without measuring current-voltage curves, from the dependence of the current efficiency on total current density. The basis of the theory is discussed for a model system of two parallel Tafel type reactions. The anodic dissolution of iron with simultaneous oxygen evolution in KNO3 and NaClO3 solutions has been investigated experimentally. |
