| 摘 要： | 小波分析是当前数学中一个迅速发展的新领域，同时具有理论和应用的双重意义。由于小波变换具有传统的DCT正交变换的能量紧致性，同时还具有与人类视觉系统很相似的特性，因此在图像压缩领域受到关注。文章介绍了小波理论及正交小波变换的快速算法（Mallat算法），分析了小波变换的统计特性，讨论了小波变换在图像压缩领域内的应用。
