At the same time, there was a supeardrought in record since 1951 when there had been data in the middle and lower Yellow River, which consequently resulted in dry river of 13 times in the yeax at Lijin station with total duration of 226 days. Under the direction of the Yellow River Flood Proventation Headquarter and cooperation of provinces along the river, 4 times water diversion in relatively large scale to the lower Yellow River were put into effect with total water of 1 billion cubic meters that alleviated the living and key industrial water use.
