The development of urban traffic system contributes to the construction of urban form and spatial structure, which are determined by the dominant traffic mode in cities. In the west developed countries, influence of private cars on urban space generally tends to be stable, and the development of private cars is relatively matching to urban form and structure. While in China, private cars expanded rapidly since the 1990s and had a great impact on urban form and spatial structure, the impact would lie in the development of urban space for a long period of time, posing further chal- lenge to the urban planning and transportation planning.
