Abstract:Polyurethane elastomers were synthesized from PPG, PTMG, liquefaction MDI and compound chain extension agent and using half prepolymer method which were used to manfaeuture helical strakes to suppress Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) of deepwater risers. The effect of the kinds of polyether polyol, content of NCO, chain extension coefficient and curing technology on the PU elastomer mechanical properties was studied. The results showed that the PU elastomer could satisfy the applying requirement of VIV suppression devices of deepwater risers. When prepolymer free NCO content was 10%, chain-extending coefficient was 0. 95, curing technology was 100 ℃, time was 8 ~ 12 h.
