INTRODUCTION ON THE PATENTED TECHNOLOGY FOR MANUFACTURING 900 MPa TWIP STEEL FOR AUTOMOBILES BY ARCELORMITTAL AND THYSSENKRUPP

This paper introduceed the latest development trends on technology for manufacturing 900MPa grade Twinning Induced Plasticity （TWIP） steel for bumper reinforcing materials, impact absorbing materials and other structural parts of automobiles and particularly describes the typical technical solution for producing hot rolled and cold rolled steel sheets or strips and plating steel sheets or strips with various characteristics such as high strength, high elongation, excellent coatability and workability based on the patented technology published by World Intellectual Property Organization in 2008, which is owned by world famous steel corporations ArcelorMittal and ThyssenKrupp. The 900MPa TWIP steel can be delivered as hot rolled, cold rolled and plated conditions.
