Abstract:Certain disadvantages of the switched reluctance motor are that it produces high torque ripple,mechanical vibrations and acoustic noise.The excessive torque ripple has limited their applications in high performance applications.There are two approaches followed for torque ripple minimization.One is improving the structure design of the motor while the other is use of electronic control techniques.An extensive review of the control approaches adopted for torque ripple minimization was presented based on the origin of torque ripple,and their merits and drawbacks were analyzed,and proposed ideas for their future research.
